Q : What does '64 bit ready' mean to RaidenFTPD and FTP Clients

A : Most of the CPU/OS which are commonly used now are not fully 64 bit system , for example , some system calls (or API) will only accept 32 bit long parameters as input parameters so it's impossible to implement a real 64 bit system at this moment , however we have overcame the difficulties and now we are glad to announce that since RaidenFTPD v2.2 build 1200+ , it is 64 bit ready .

64 BIT READY advantages

* in the directory listing , the server can return filesizes which are larger than 4294967296 bytes (4 giga bytes) correctly , now that everyone is getting DVD-R/RW drives , they will easily have files which are larger than this boundary , and there is no doubt that 32 bit ftp servers can not display these integers correctly

* ftp users are possible to resume download or upload files beyond this offset 4294967296 (4 giga bytes) correctly , note that 32 bit ftp servers can not set file pointers beyond this point correctly

* the following ftp commands are invloved in the 64 bit ready topic : LIST / REST / RETR / STOR / APPE / SIZE / XCRC / XMD5

64 BIT READY minimal requirements

* Windows NT4 SP6 , Windows 2000 SP2 , Windows XP

* The partitions used to offer large files must be formatted in NTFS format

* RaidenFTPD v2.2 build 1200 +

note : Windows 95 , Windows 98 , Windows ME , FAT16 , FAT32 are not qualified

64 BIT READY compatible ftp clients

* SmartFTP1.0.968.1 : Compatible , the local and remote view can display filesize larger than 4 giga bytes correctly , it can also resume upload & download large files correctly

* Windows Commander 5.01+ : Compatible , the local and remote view can display filesize larger than 4 giga bytes correctly , it can also resume upload & download large files correctly , note that all versions before v5.01 is not completely compatible with 64 bit FTP

* FlashFXP 1.4.850+ : Compatible , the local and remote view can display filesize larger than 4 giga bytes correctly , it can also resume upload & download large files correctly , note that all versions before v1.4.850 is not completely compatible with 64 bit FTP

* FTP Voyager 12+ : Compatible , the local and remote view can display filesize larger than 4 giga bytes correctly , it can also resume upload & download large files correctly

note : if you are going to download a large file , you have to download it to a NTFS partition
